Yield yourself to the Spirit

In continuation of the topic we are discussing, I would like to add some more thoughts.

(1) it shall occur. (Zechariah. 14: 8)

In summer and winter there is no change in the flow of the river. It is not that a man is using the Holy Spirit but that the Holy Spirit is making use of the yielded person. Its effects can be seen in the total personality of the person. This experience made Paul to count all his achievements as dung when compared to the excellency of the knowledge of Christ. (Philippians. 3:8). The love of God is shred abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. (Romans. 3:3) Because of this beautiful experience Paul and Silas could sing songs and praise God in the jail in Philippe. Peter could sleep peacefully in between two Roman soldiers on the eve of his supposed trial.

(2) Satisfies the deepest need of man

Nothing on earth can satisfy the deepest need of our heart. We are coming to our source and the source can satisfy us richly if we are willing to yield ourselves.

(3) Inexhaustible supply

For the lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. (Revelation. 7:17)

He leads us to inexhaustible fountain. The capacity to which we are to be filled is expected to be overflowing. Rate up to which we are blessed depends on the level up to which we are yielded. If we decide to cling on Him all the days of our lives we will never get dry.

(4) Makes lives fruitful

And he showed me a pure river of water of life clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street and on either side of the river was the tree of life which bore twelve fruits each tree yielding its fruit every month.....(Revelation. 22: 1, 2)

There are nine gifts of the Spirit and nine fruits of the spirit in one bunch. (1. Corinthians.12 and Galatians. 5: 22) Gifts of the Spirit are intended for the Ministry. Fruit of the Spirit is intended for daily Christian life of a child of God.

(5) It is a wonderful preparation for growth in usefulness. (Ezekiel. 47: 1 – 6)

He brought me back from to the door of the temple............And when the

man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits and water came up to my ankles.

Again he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the

water came upto my knees. Again he measured one thousand cubits and

brought me through ; water came upto my waist. Again he measured one

thousand and it was river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep

sater in which one must swim a river that could not be crossed. (Ezekiel. 47: 1 – 6)

(a) Water upto ankles (v 3) ie. Standing in faith

When we decide to yield to Holy Spirit and start walking in His guidance the first effect is the strengthening of our ankles. In other words unless our ankles are strong we cannot stand or walk properly. A good and solid foundation is laid for our Christian lives.

(b) Water up to knees (v 4) ie stable prayer life

Encourages us daily and constantly for prayer. We cannot grow and be blessed without a steady prayer life. We are expected to pray without ceasing and we cannot go on in prayer life without the help of Holy Spirit.

(c) Water up to waist (v 5) ie. Serving in Spirit

Denotes our service for Lord. We are made strong in our service for the

Lord and to others only if our foundation and prayer life are sound and consistent. Humility should be stamped on our service and attitude.

(d) Water up to neck ie Ministering in Spirit

Water in which one has to swim (v5) We are immersed in the refreshing sea of joy. We are not standing on the river bank watching its flow; but we are right in the midst of the river totally immersed, involved and enjoying. This shows the ministering for the Lord in the fullness of Holy Spirit.

(6) Waters in the sea are healed. (Ezekiel. 47: 8)

When it reaches the sea its waters are healed. (Ezekiel. 47: 8)

In the language of the Bible sea always symbolizes great multitude of people. (Revelation. 17: 15) When Holy Spirit uses a person, many people will be blessed and their lives will be healed. Whoever comes in contact with the spirit filled person will be transformed. Their manner of speaking will be changed. (James. 1: 12) Their eyes will be transformed. (Job. 31: 1) Their feet run to declare good news. Their hands are outstretched to help others.

(7) Wherever the river flows every living thing that moves shall live. (Ezekiel.47: 9)

And it shall be that every living thing that moves wherever the rivers go, will live. (Ezekiel.47: 9)

Living things which can move will be strengthened mightily. So many Christians are in a state of lifeless inactivity. Many are in a paralytic stage. That means they are classified as alive but has no activity because of dead organs. So when the Holy Spirit touches the lives, they will be strengthened, vigorously and will achieve great things for God.

(8) Fishermen will be prosperous (Ezekiel. 47: 10)

It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from EnGedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kind as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many. (Ezekiel. 47: 10)

Fishermen here mean soul winners. When people are filled with Holy Spirit, great revival occurs. Souls will be added in plenty to the church of living Lord in masses just like great draughts of fish are collected in nets by fishermen.

(9) The leaves of the trees on the banks of rivers will not fade but will bear fruit every month. (Ezekiel. 47: 12)

Along the bank of the river, on this side and that will grow all kinds of trees used for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because water flows from sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for medicines. . (Ezekiel. 47: 12)

The roots of the trees go deep into the waters giving them nourishment throughout the year. So they bear fruit throughout the year. Their fruits are different and new every month. Similarly the believers take nourishment from the Spirit, the river of life. Therefore their lives will be ever fresh giving out new fruit in all the different situations of life irrespective of time and season. Bearing fruit is our primary responsibility and it always glorifies our Lord. (John. 15:16) Their lives will be of tramendous use for those staying outside the kingdom of Lord.

Dear one, are you willing to yield yourself to the Holy Spirit? Lord is inviting you to come to Him and drink fully. Then He wants you to go out and bear fruit for His glory.
